Advanced Energy Guides Available for Free DownloadA series of "Advanced Energy Design Guides" that provide a sensible approach to achieving advanced levels of energy savings without the need for detailed calculations or analysis are now available for free download from ASHRAE. The guides offer contractors and designers the tools needed for achieving a 30% energy savings compared to buildings that meet the minimum requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 - 1999, ASHRAE says. The 30% energy savings target is the first step toward achieving a net-zero energy building, the association adds. The four-color guides were developed jointly by ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), with support from the U.S. Department of Energy. The series includes guides for small warehouses/self-storage buildings, K-12 school buildings, small retail buildings and small office buildings. Download the guides in PDF form at no charge or order printed editions. |
