Home Prices Post Modest Gains in 2QSeptember 1 U.S. home prices rose modestly in the second quarter, says the latest report of the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices. The U.S. National Home Price Index rose 4.4% in the quarter. The Index fell 2.8% in the first quarter of 2010. As of the end of the second quarter, home prices were 3.6% above year-earlier levels, says a news release from S&P/Case-Shiller. "Housing prices have rebounded from crisis low, but other recent housing indicators point to more ominous signams as tax incentives have ended and foreclosures continue," states the release.
