Unprecedented Cost Increases for Commodity Items
Prompts Further Price Increase
Cranston, RI, June 07, 2006 – Taco, Inc. has announced price increases across all product lines, effective July 1st.
Price increases on Water Circulation Products, including the “00” Circulator Product Line up through the largest Horizontal Split Case Pump Product Lines, range from 5% to 8.5%. Price increases on Hydronic Accessories, including Zone and Flow Control Valves, range up to 12%. Price increases on Air Elimination & Control Products, including Air Separators and Expansion Tanks, will range from 4% to 8%. Price increases on Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers, including all Single & Double Wall Heat Exchangers, will be 15%. Price increases on Electronic Controls, including Switching Relays & Zone Controls, will be 2%.
This is the second price increase that Taco has announced this year and is driven by steep cost increases for commodities worldwide. Taco’s first price increase announcements occurred in January and February of this year and ranged from 2.5 percent to 5 percent.
Unprecedented worldwide demand for a range of commodities like copper, bronze and steel has resulted in large cost increases for producers who use these commodities in their end products. These run-ups in the price of metallic commodities are being compounded by the high price of oil, which prompts increased costs for shipment and transportation.
“Commodity prices have been rising fast for all manufacturers employing commodities in their end products. To absorb these increases and not raise our prices would end up weakening our ability to remain a strong, responsive supplier,” said John Hazen White, Jr., president and CEO of Taco. “However, we always owe it to our customers to keep price increases to a minimum, and the best way to assure that is to work even harder to improve our manufacturing efficiency and reduce the amount of commodity materials we use in our products.”
Taco, Inc. manufactures a wide range of hydronic-based equipment for residential, commercial and institutional applications worldwide. Taco purchases copper, bronze and brass on the worldwide market for use in virtually all of its products.
